In 2019, Chris launched an interactive online map of thousands of factory farms and slaughterhouses across Australia, and recently spent over 9 hours hidden inside a slaughterhouse gas chamber to capture the agonising final moments of pigs

Behind closed doors: forcing transparency

Chris will talk about his organisation’s efforts to force transparency on an industry dependent on secrecy, through years of covert investigations and ground-breaking exposés – from the maceration of male chicks in the egg industry, to the gassing of pigs in slaughterhouses, the shooting of ex-racehorses in knackeries, and much more. He’ll share his experiences of the pushback from government and industry, and give updates on FTP’s latest campaigns, including their pledge to expose 30 slaughterhouses by the end of 2024.
