You – Koala
This talk will look at learnings from the Koala campaigns of south-western Sydney, and levers of indigenous culture that we can utilize to better protect our animals. Australia is unique in that we still have our ‘lorescape’ – the stories of our landscape. Stories that often centre the animal, this reference point at the intersection of indigenous and modern Australia provides a possible path to both culturally re-indigenize while bolstering environmental protection efficacy. Leveraging off ideas and obligations to landscape via totem relationships, songlines and ceremony. This presentation will outline ways we can be guided by our own animal spirits to elevate awareness and ensure habitat is protected.
