45 Years, one goal: ending the battery cage for good.

Glenys will share a candid, data-informed reflection on Australia’s decades-long campaign to end battery cages — what moved governments, what stalled progress, and how advocates turned public sentiment into policy. Drawing on her 45 years at the forefront of reform — from the Australian Animal Welfare Strategy to the new Poultry Standards that will phase out cages — she will unpack the pivotal moments, strategic decisions, and alliances that made the difference. This session is not a victory lap. It’s a practical roadmap for the final push — tightening phase-out timelines, closing loopholes, ensuring enforceable standards, and sustaining community pressure until every hen is free from a cage. Attendees will leave with clear priorities, ready-to-use arguments, and lessons on effective advocacy that translate across issues.
